LANtelligence Networks: Exchange Migration
As a Microsoft Partner for Enterprise Systems, LANtelligence professional service team can help your organization re-design or upgrade your messaging architecture to Exchange Server with Windows 2000/2003. An upgrade to these more powerful operating systems will help to ensure that your organization has the scalability, reliability, security, and performance to leverage the full administrative capabilities and architecture. Exchange migration services include:
Exchange Migration Readiness Assessment – Reviews your current environment including the Windows 2000/2003 domain, network and SMTP architectures. Required changes or issues that may pose undue risk for the migration are formally documented over the course of the assessment.
Exchange Planning & Design – Analyzes business requirements and maps them to Exchange capabilities. Then the physical and logical design of the Exchange architecture is defined along with the major tasks that will take place over the course of the migration project. If required, the service team will also review the current message environment, existing domains and the network architecture.
Email Archiving & Storage Assessment – This service is designed to gather metrics on current usage profiles, data retention, gather usage metrics for servers and storage, network traffic, etc. The information is then reviewed and recommendations on system configuration are developed based on performance results and the number of anticipated users.
Exchange Pilot – Provides a practical approach to test concepts that may include customized applications, testing new versions and backup of the production environment. Based on the results of the pilot, the logical and physical designs of the Exchange architecture will be updated along with any special implementation activities.
Exchange Implementation – Encompasses the actual migration, including: Install and configure Microsoft Exchange server software and all relevant Microsoft Service Packs and Hot Fixes.
- Configure the Windows NT (WNT) network protocols, as appropriate.
- Configure the Exchange connectors for Internet Mail, Mail Service, Microsoft Mail, and cc:Mail.
- Configure the Exchange client software for networked clients.
- Verify client connection to the server and a mailbox, and the ability to send and receive mail to and from the server.
- Complete documentation and basic training on the ongoing maintenance of the system.
